- Market Gap: Due to high costs of mixed fruit bowls through Swiggy/Zomato (INR 100-200 w/ delivery), no daily subscription exists to take over people's total fruit intake. By saving 90% on delivery fees by targeting large (1,000+ flats) gated communities, general high margins of wholesale fruits and extra margins by serving cut, we were able to price at INR 60-70 profitably (30-40% margins), thereby creating the "price sweet spot" for customers to pay for and start monthly subscriptions.
- Trial last month: We onboarded 30 pre-paid monthly subs from one society, each averaging 25 bowls/month, INR 400-500 final profit per household. This, with only one single Push notification from our app, and despite a badly timed massive water crisis at the chosen community.
- Round 1 Investment Plan is to raise INR 50 Lakhs from 5 individuals (INR 10L each), targeting 1000 Subscribers across 20 communities in 1 year.
- Business will look to use business loans or revenue financing from 2nd year onwards to fuel growth, sharing profits with all equity holders for long-term.
- Business can also offer partial exits/multiples through Round 2 of funding at INR 20 Cr valuation, or possibly through outright sale of the company.
- The founder worked at Google as a Google Ads specialist before starting up and currently running a 6-year-old successful business that operates pan-India and has served 80,000+ orders with a 4.5-star rating on Google.
- During our trial run last month, we offered 3 bowls, Regular (INR 49), Premium (INR 75) and Exotic (INR 99).
- Regular and Premium sold the most, however, a key learning was if we offered only a single option, a fully customizable bowl priced at a flat INR 60-70 would help reach a much larger customer base.
- Bowls are securely dropped at doorsteps by 6 AM daily, Mon-Sat.
Tangible assets include -: Small value items purchased for the pilot like tables, chairs, cutting tools, packaging, crates, delivery carts, etc.
For the pilot, we rented space within the community itself of about 150 sq ft. However, a key learning was this business is better when centralized than run individually at each community, so we will be using centralized warehouses for cutting/packaging/storing operations moving forward.
The pilot was run using the founder's personal funds. This business has no debts or loans, founder holds 100%, ready for first round of equity investments.
